Study of different normal-microemulsion compositions by room-temperature phosphorescence to determine benzo[a]pyrene in environmental samples

چکیده
We have studied the presence in the environment of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) in the city of Granada using room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) applied to microemulsions. A detailed study into the different compositions of several normal microemulsion together with experimental variables (heavy atom, deoxygenate agent, pH) and instrumental parameters (wavelengths, decay and gate time) were carried out. The analytical curve has a linear dynamic range of 3.9–100 ng ml−1 with a detection limit of 3.9 ng ml−1. This method does not require any separation step and allows the direct determination of BaP in road dust and in particles deposited on cypress leaves. The application of this approach to road dust and particles on cypress leaves by the standard addition method of calibration gave final concentrations of 17.6 and 14.1 g BaP g−1, respectively. The method is rapid, easy to apply and could be used routinely to determine BaP in environmental samples. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

متن کاملApplication of Derivative Variable-angle Synchronous Scanning Phosphorimetry in a Microemulsion Medium for the Simultaneous Determination of 2-Naphthoxyacetic Acid and 1-Naphthalenacetamide
The applicability of derivative variable-angle synchronous scanning (DVASS) microemulsion phosphorimetry at room temperature (ME-RTP) was demonstrated for the simultaneous determination of the plant growth regulators 2-naphthoxyacetic acid and 1-naphthalenacetamide in soil samples. This technique permits linear or non-linear paths to be scanned at preselected angles through the excitation–emiss...

Materials and Methods: In a metabolic activiation assay system, cytochorome P-50 (from microsomal fraction) catalyses the formation of reactive epoxide of BaP which can then interact with exogenous DNA The capacity of cytochrome...
متن کاملRed Phosphorescence from Benzo[2,1,3]thiadiazoles at Room Temperature.
We describe the red phosphorescence exhibited by a class of structurally simple benzo[2,1,3]thiadiazoles at room temperature. The photophysical properties of these molecules in deoxygenated cyclohexane, including their absorption spectra, steady-state photoluminescence and excitation spectra, and phosphorescence lifetimes, are presented. Time-dependent density functional theory calculations wer...
متن کاملPolyelectrolyte-Modified Microemulsions: Formation of Nanoparticles in the Presence of Anionic and Cationic Polyelectrolyte
The paper is focused on the formation of calcium phosphate nanoparticles (CP) in polyelectrolyte-modified microemulsions, in a microemulsion template phase consisting of cyclohexane, water, anionic surfactantant and cosurfactant, in the presence of anionic and cationic polyelectrolyte. It is shown that polyelectrolyte, can be incorporated into the individual inverse microemulsion droplets. The ...
